Top Cable 7 desert challenge: Patagonia
Bicycle, alone and without assistance
The adventure cyclist Sergio Fernández continues to clock up kilometres in his unusual cycling odyssey. After two months crossing from Uahuaia, to the south of Tierra del Fuego, he finds himself at the gateway to the Atacama desert, the second stage of the "Top Cable 7 desert challenge".
7 largest deserts in the world on a bicycle, alone and without any kind of assistance.
The Top Cable 7 desert challenge, as this unusual odyssey has come to be known, involves almost three years of travelling that are full of emotion and difficulties on the five continents. The challenge consists of crossing the 7 largest deserts in the world on a bicycle, alone and without any kind of assistance.
Top Cable is sponsoring the project. The company heads are enthused by the idea, as the project reflects the enterprising and dynamic spirit that characterises the company, whilst it shows its special interest in respect for the environment.
Australian challenge overcome
For the first expedition in the Australian desert in 2002, Sergio followed the routes traversed by the explorers which a little over one hundred years ago gave access to what until that time had been wild and unknown territory. This inhospitable territory, known as the "outback", is penetrated by the aborigines on their walkabout.
