The IWCC congress visits the Top Cable facilities

The International Wrought Copper Council (IWCC), founded in 1953, is a trade association for the copper manufacturing industry. In their annual technical seminar held in Spain, they visited the Top Cable mill and logistics centre.

Currently, the IWCC has members throughout Europe, Japan, Australia, China, Iran, India, Mexico, Malaysia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States. In March the IWCC held a technical seminar in Spain attended by Association representatives from around the world. In the schedule of meetings, conferences and various activities, the attendants could visit Top Cable’s production plant and automated logistics centre. The 50 attendants were able to observe the entire production process of an electric cable, from the wiredrawing of the big copper rolls, originating from the foundry, to the final quality controls of the already finished cable, passing through the different fabrication phases: insulation, extrusion, wiring, shielding, etc. In the logistics centre the visitors could observe the automated storage process and subsequent shipping.

The IWCC works closely with organizations linked to the copper industry. Its role is to facilitate communication and represent the interests of the industry. The copper industry manufactures wire, tubes, sheets, bands and bars of copper, brass, bronze and other alloys used in thousands of applications in buildings, power transmission, communications, transport and industry.
