Solar cables only represent around 4-5% of a solar project cost, but it can have a significant impact on the power output. Cabling is often not considered to be a critical factor. Cables used in large solar farms must be designed according to EN 50618 Standard. It is essential to use cables with the highest performance to operate at full capacity despite the harsh environmental conditions in a solar plant, such as rain, sand abrasion, prolonged exposure to ozone and sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations and direct ultraviolet (UV) rays.
