Esta unidad se basa en la norma estadounidense ASTM B 496 y ASTM B 400. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si trabajas en un sector que involucra la medici\u00f3n de cables o alambres, es posible que hayas encontrado los t\u00e9rminos AWG y mm<sup>2<\/sup>. <strong>Ambas unidades de medida se utilizan para indicar el grosor o di\u00e1metro de los cables y alambres, pero no son intercambiables<\/strong>. Para convertir entre estas dos unidades, necesitar\u00e1s una <strong>tabla de conversi\u00f3n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuanto mayor sea el n\u00famero AWG, m\u00e1s delgado ser\u00e1 el cable. Por ejemplo, un cable de 16 AWG es m\u00e1s grueso que uno de 22 AWG. Por otro lado, mm<sup>2<\/sup> significa mil\u00edmetros cuadrados, y se utiliza como una unidad est\u00e1ndar de medida para el di\u00e1metro de los cables y alambres en la mayor\u00eda de las partes del mundo que utilizan el sistema m\u00e9trico decimal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Un cable delgado presenta mayor resistencia al flujo de corriente debido a su menor secci\u00f3n transversal. Por otro lado, un cable m\u00e1s grueso tiene una menor resistencia y puede transportar corrientes m\u00e1s altas de manera eficiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para consultar la equivalencia AWG mm<sup>2<\/sup>, deber\u00e1s consultar una tabla de conversi\u00f3n. Estas tablas suelen listar los tama\u00f1os AWG en una columna y sus medidas mm<sup>2<\/sup> correspondientes en otra columna.
