In addition, tinned copper wire is easier to solder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"solar-standard-en-50618-requires-tinned-copper-conductors\"><\/span>SOLAR STANDARD EN 50618 REQUIRES TINNED COPPER CONDUCTORS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Standard EN 50618<\/strong>&nbsp;specifies that in the design of a solar photovoltaic installation, the&nbsp;<strong>conductor&nbsp;<\/strong>must be made of&nbsp;<strong>flexible copper (class 5) tinned coated<\/strong>&nbsp;by EN 60228 Standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, for the solar installation to comply with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.une.org\/encuentra-tu-norma\/busca-tu-norma\/norma?c=N0054621\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EN 50618<\/a>, the use of a cable with a flexible aluminium conductor for connecting solar panels is ruled out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This material preference is based on the ease of installation offered by copper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"why-is-the-tinned-copper-conductor-indispensable-in-a-solar-installation\"><\/span>WHY IS THE TINNED COPPER CONDUCTOR INDISPENSABLE IN A SOLAR INSTALLATION?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main&nbsp;<strong>advantages of the tinned electrolytic copper conductor<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The copper conductor offers <strong>higher tensile strength<\/strong> and does not require large conduit systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using a solar cable with a copper conductor ensures <strong>greater resistance to corrosion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With a copper conductor we obtain a <strong>more robust installation<\/strong>. In the case of the aluminium conductor, being more malleable, it will continue to deform, potentially causing a weak connection and increasing the electrical resistance at the point of contact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Higher thermal resistance.<\/strong> Compared to aluminium, the copper conductor is more resistant to temperature changes, an indispensable characteristic in outdoor installations such as photovoltaic installations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tinned copper wires avoid galvanic couples when connecting metals of different potentials.
