However, there are also some disadvantages to them. One of their main problems is that of EMI or Electro-Magnetic Interference. This can cause problems in the motor if not dealt with correctly. This is achieved by spliting and reducing the earth conductor to fit snuggly into the gaps between the conductors. Secondly, a special protective screen is added to ensure the required EMC when variable-speed drives are used. Conductor:<\/strong> electrolytic copper, class 5 (flexible), based on IEC 60228.<br \/>\n<strong>2. Insulation:<\/strong> XLPE.<br \/>\n<strong>3. Screen:<\/strong> Aluminium-polyester tape acting as a screen helically placed over the insulated conductors. Over the tape there is a tinned copper braid screen. The tape and the braid together act as a double screen to cut out 100% of the electromagnetic interference.
