The standard is a single-core XLPE MV cable. Top Cable’s X-VOLT RHZ1 (Al or Cu, 6/10-18/30 kV, copper screen, IEC 60502-2 / HD 620) is the typical underground distribution choice.

Short MV interconnections use X-VOLT RHZ1/HEPRZ1 single-cores; LV transformer tails use POWERFLEX RV-K or POWERHARD armoured 0.6/1 kV cable.

Aluminium keeps feeder cost and weight down. Top Cable’s X-VOLT RHZ1/HEPRZ1 aluminium MV cable is designed for utility primary feeders at 10-33 kV.

Top Cable’s X-VOLT RHZ1 12/20 kV aluminium cable uses XLPE insulation, a copper-wire screen (min. 16 mm2), a halogen-free polyolefin sheath, runs at 90C, is UV-resistant and buriable.

Both are Top Cable X-VOLT MV cables: RHZ1 uses XLPE insulation (90C); HEPRZ1 uses HEPR (105C rating, more flexible). Choose HEPRZ1 for higher thermal load or tighter bends.

Top Cable’s X-VOLT (AS) MV cables carry a CPR reaction-to-fire class (Cca per EN 50575) for utility installations covered by the Construction Products Regulation.

Burial depth follows local codes (commonly around 0.8-1 m for MV), but the cable must be buriable. Top Cable’s X-VOLT is rated for direct burial, with optional rodent and termite protection.

Ring main units are fed by MV single-cores. Top Cable’s X-VOLT RHZ1/HEPRZ1 (Al or Cu) connect RMUs and switchgear in distribution networks.

Top Cable manufactures the X-VOLT MV range to IEC 60502-2 and HD 620, used by distribution network operators for underground feeders and substation circuits.

Earthing and bonding use green/yellow single-core conductors. Top Cable’s H07Z1-K (LSZH) and H07V-K single-cores and earthing cables suit substation bonding.
