Four brothers have built a leading company in the manufacture of electric cables. They have worked together seamlessly since 1985 and have done so under the watchful eye of their father, Albert Parera Amposta, who has provided them with experience, encouragement to start new projects, and a passion for mechanics.

Year after year, we have been building a passionate team, a group of people that work together to do their best and succeed in the challenging and changing environments that are common for the cable business.

Today, Top Cable supplies Low, Medium Voltage and Fiber Optic cables to more than 80 countries. The company’s success rests on three key pillars: focus on service, cable quality and performance, and the determination to develop international markets.

1954: A restless visionary 1985: The beginnings

Albert Parera Amposta (Martorell, Spain, 1929) emigrated to Venezuela in 1954 in search of better job opportunities than those offered by post-war Spain. He started as salesman of Berliet machinery and trucks for large electric and oil companies that were starting up in the country. He saw that his clients were growing fast, installing new systems but leaving old cables lying around.

So, he decided to start a precarious business collecting these cables, recycling them to sell them again. Soon, he built a small warehouse in the industrial part of Caracas. Albert was a savvy entrepreneur with a strong mechanical background. So, he bought a small machine from a big hardware store. Then, he adapted it to make new cables because he couldn’t find any available in the market.

In 1985, Albert and the four young brothers—Albert, Alex, Jordi, and Josep—teamed up with two workers and created Alcabe, the industrial seed of what was to become the commercial Top Cable company.

They bought a plot of land in Rubí (Barcelona) and, in 1986, they built the first factory there. A year later, they began to sell cable, which was very well received in the market. After two years, they had already doubled the warehouse to be able to serve the growing demand. From the beginning, they had a clear will to grow internationally. They also had the firm conviction to specialize in cables with a higher added value than those intended for the general market (mainly construction).
