Choosing the right Medium Voltage cable for your application involves several important considerations. Determine the voltage level required for your application, considering factors like the length of the cable run and the ambient temperature, as these can affect the cable’s performance. Choose the appropriate insulation material based and the best conductor material. Finally, it is necessary to assess the specific performance required by the installation.

Yes, MV cables can be fire-retardant on request. For example, our cable X-VOLT® AL RHZ1 is fire non propagator according to EN 50399, flame non propagator based on UNE-EN 60332-1 and IEC 60332-1, halogen free based on EN 60754-1, Low corrosive gases emission based on UNE-EN 60754-2 and IEC 60754-2. Its smoke density and light transmittanceis >60% , based on EN 61034 / IEC 61034. Finally, the cable’s reaction to fire according European Norm CPR is Cca-s1b, d2, a1 according to EN 50575.

IEC 60502-2 is an international standard for MV cables that can be used in generation networks, distribution networks, and some applications in the transmission networks. Medium Voltage cables designed according to IEC standard ensure safety, reliability, and performance.

Medium voltage cables are quite versatile and are used in a variety of applications. The most common are Power Distribution, Industrial applications, Renewable Energies and Data Centres.

Medium voltage cable (roughly 1-36 kV, up to 69 kV) carries power in distribution networks, substations, wind, industry and large sites. Top Cable’s X-VOLT range covers it.

Both are X-VOLT MV cables: RHZ1 uses XLPE (90C); HEPRZ1 uses HEPR (105C, more flexible). Pick HEPRZ1 for higher thermal load or tighter bends.

X-VOLT RHZ1 12/20 kV is an XLPE-insulated MV cable, 90ºC service, copper-wire screen, halogen-free and CPR-classified.
