Application
POWERFLEX® RV-K cable is suitable for all types of low voltage industrial-type connections, in urban grids, building installations, etc. Its high flexibility makes the installation process substantially easier and, as a result, is particularly suitable for use in difficult layouts. It can be buried or installed in a tube as well as outdoors without requiring additional protection. This cable can with stand damp conditions including total submersion in water (AD8).

FAQ's POWERFLEX® RV-K
In addition to all the characteristics explained so far, we can also highlight the following:
- Maximum short-circuit temperature: 250°C (maximum 5 s).
- Minimum installation and handling temperature: 0°C (on the cable surface).
- Reduced halogen emission. Chlorine < 15%.
- Impact resistance: AG2 Medium severity.
- CPR Eca certification.
The cable has the following certificates: AENOR, KEMA-KEUR, BUREAU VERITAS, CE and RoHS.
Although both cables have the same flexible conductor (-K : Flexible copper class 5 for fixed installations) and insulation (R : Cross-linked polyethylene XLPE), the outer sheath varies: the RV-K cable has a PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) outer sheath, while the outer sheath of the RZ1-K cable is made of halogen-free thermoplastic polyolefin.
It is important for PV engineers to check that the products supplied to them by their suppliers comply with EN 50618, as this standard sets higher requirements.
Installations with RV-K (or RZ1-K) cable do not comply with the current EN 50618 solar standard and can present severe electrical hazards. The new EN 50618 standard requires a voltage of 1500V, whereas the voltage of a RV-K cable is 900V. In addition, RV-K cables do not pass the Arrenhius test, which is an ageing test to ensure the electrical reliability of the cables. Finally, the EN 50618 standard requires solar cables to have tinned conductors and cross-linked insulation and sheathing, characteristics which the RV-K (and RZ1-K) cable lacks.
