Este concepto hace referencia al di\u00e1metro que debe tener el cable, normalmente de cobre, independientemente de la capa de revestimiento aislante. Este grosor ser\u00e1 el que determine la <strong>cantidad de corriente -medida en amperios- que el cable ser\u00e1 capaz de soportar<\/strong> sin provocar un sobrecalentamiento. Al pasar corriente por un cable se produce el<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"> <a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Efecto_Joule#targetText=Se%20conoce%20como%20efecto%20Joule,elevando%20la%20temperatura%20del%20mismo.\">efecto Joule<\/a><\/span>,y si bien el revestimiento del cable es aislante, hay una cantidad de corriente m\u00e1xima que es capaz de soportar sin que se sobrecaliente en exceso. Esto podr\u00eda provocar un deterioro del cable e incluso un incendio.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ca\u00edda de tensi\u00f3n m\u00e1xima<\/strong>: La ca\u00edda de tensi\u00f3n es la <strong>diferencia presente entre los extremos de un conductor<\/strong>, en nuestro caso de un cable el\u00e9ctrico. Al aplicar un determinado voltaje en un extremo del cable, debido a las condiciones f\u00edsicas del mismo siempre se producir\u00e1 una ca\u00edda del voltaje que llegar\u00e1 al otro extremo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Por norma general se establecen las siguientes recomendaciones en cuanto a los porcentajes de ca\u00edda recomendados:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ca\u00edda de voltaje m\u00e1xima para el alimentador m\u00e1s circuito ramal: \u22645%.<\/li>\n<li>Ca\u00edda de voltaje m\u00e1xima para el circuito alimentador: \u22643%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>C\u00e1lculo de la secci\u00f3n de cable<\/h2>\n<p>El c\u00e1lculo de la secci\u00f3n de cable necesaria se realiza en funci\u00f3n de la ca\u00edda de tensi\u00f3n.
